Even though we are about 7 weeks late, our honeymoon is just around the corner. The big destination? Costa Rica! Instead of the typical luxurious tropical honeymoon, we decided to go the adventurous route, at least for half of it anyway. Here is a quick look at our itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive in SJO international airport at 9:45am. Rent a 4 x 4, which is a necessity when driving on most of the roads over there. (This will be an adventure in and of itself!) Then we will check into Aldea Hostel, and have a night to explore the capital.

Day 2: Check out of the hostel and head up the Waterfall Gardens, where we will hike to La Paz Waterfall.
After a day of hiking, we will drive north to La Fortuna, and check into our hotel Arenal Observatory Lodge with a stunning view of the Arenal Volcano from our bedroom.
Day 3 & 4: An ATV tour, a night hike around the volcano, and white water rafting are all possibilities here!
Day 5 & 6: We leave La Fortuna for Monteverde where will will check in to Cabinas el Pueblo. Monteverde is known for its rainforest canopy tours, zip lining, and waterfall rappelling. Are you excited yet??
Day 7-9: After a full week full of adventures, we will head south to Manuel Antonio to The Falls Resort, which is a short walk from the beach. While here, we will enjoy horseback riding on the beach, snorkeling, and a tour of Manuel Antonio National Park.
After a few days of much needed relaxation, we will head back to San Jose, where we will stay at Aldea hostel once again.
Day 10: Check out of our hostel and spend one last afternoon exploring the local markets and shops of the country's capital. We will head to the airport around 4pm, and return back home about 12:30am the next morning.
We leave in two short days and I haven't started packing. I am going to do my best to pack light. If you know me well, you know how difficult this will be for me. I told my mom I only wanted to bring a hiking backpack and she didn't think I could do it. Maybe she's right, cause moms are always right...but I am going to do my best! I can sneak stuff in Matt's bag too. ;]
Bring on the adventure!
